NOSTALGIC AVANT-GARDE
NOSTALGIC AVANT-GARDE is a fashion-film exploring the intersection of avant-garde fashion and everyday life, this project draws inspiration from Maison Martin Margiela’s Fall-Winter 1993-1994 Collection + Comme des Garçons’ iconic Spring/Summer 1997 “Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body” by Rei Kawakubo. Through the nostalgic lens of an 80s Super 8 camera, the project reimagines how the avant-garde might manifest in the ordinary — how it would look, how it would feel.
With the collaboration of designer Natalia Martello, we crafted a striking see-through dress punctuated by exaggerated bumps and lumps, a visual exploration of distortion and beauty. This piece blurs the boundaries between the conceptual and the wearable, capturing the tension between abstraction and the familiar, and inviting a dialogue on how experimental fashion can inhabit everyday spaces in unexpected ways.
