INTERVIEW: JOIN THE LUNAR MOVEMENT

Trend Privé Magazine captures the essence and vision of LUNAR as a brand that defies conventions and embraces individuality. The emphasis on bold lines, structural transparencies, and dark tones reflects a deep commitment to creating a distinct presence that challenges societal norms. The idea of LUNAR as a manifestation of one’s true self, a reflection of a nonconformist spirit that commands attention, is truly compelling.

The concept of a “LUNAR walk” that draws attention akin to the Moon’s gravitational pull adds an intriguing layer to the brand’s ethos. It suggests a magnetic allure that sets one apart and provokes contemplation among onlookers, inviting them to reconsider their perceptions of normality. The narrative surrounding the birth of LUNAR Lab as a project initiated by ambitious and visionary individuals to offer an alternative lifestyle perspective is inspiring. The brand’s focus on promoting originality, nurturing creative energies, and fostering openness to new ideas underscores a commitment to innovation and exploration in fashion design.

The detailed breakdown of the team’s composition, ranging from fashion and product design to administration, tailoring, and digital marketing, highlights a multidisciplinary approach that ensures a comprehensive and cohesive brand experience. The dedication to using premium materials and services underscores LUNAR‘s commitment to quality and excellence, further enhancing its position as a cutting-edge and forward-thinking fashion entity.

INTERVIEW WITH VLAD VRACIU – FOUNDER + DESIGNER OF LUNAR LABORATORIES

Minimalism and contemporary designs are the words coming to mind when we see LUNAR. Are these part of your personality?

Yes, I always try to reduce as much as possible the abundance of influences that unnecessarily flood my life. Regarding design, I focus more on the future and less on the present, and not at all on the past.

Do you remember the first garment created for the brand? When was that LUNAR moment where you said ‘this brand will make its way and will make the difference somehow’?

Yes. I also created outfits in design school, but the first piece of clothing produced in the workshop for the brand was a unisex Vest and I remember even now that I had a unique feeling when I saw it on the mannequin, it was like a dream come true.

I had this feeling that something good was going to come out during the production of the pieces from the first collection, with each product I started to feel that it was getting closer to my standards. And when I finished the collection, the feeling was complete.

We love the geometric shapes of your accessories. Does architecture play a role in your collections?

The references used in the creative process of each collection come from past work experience in the field of military aeronautical engineering, and here I can mention right angles, geometric shapes or overlapping layers.

Architecture has a role in the creative process, but I am passionate about Brutalism or Socialism Modernism architecture because they use almost the same landmarks listed above, right angles, clear lines, geometric shapes, and because they, in those days, tried to visualize the future, like me.

How many people are involved in the team now and how important is it for you to work with more collaborators?

Currently there are 4 colleagues in our team, I deal with design, another colleague deals with marketing, someone else with sales and the 4th deals with logistics. Working in a team is very important because working alone leads to exhaustion, reduces performance and accentuates the micromanagement syndrome.

What about defining the long-lasting concept for your garments? How do you determine what is durable design?

I believe that the clothes created by me, as well as the niche in which they are found, have a great advantage that, not following trends, they do not go out of fashion. For this reason, any piece of clothing can become a statement piece in every wardrobe and will fit into outfits 10 years from now just as well as it does now.

Our garments are not going out of fashion, the unsold pieces can be sold in the following seasons.

Can you tell us a little bit about your references for your last collection?

Each collection of the LUNAR Laboratories brand represents an attempt to reach the Moon. Thus, for the 3rd collection named ”Past Resiliance” I chose a trip in time, in the past, in the place that represented the beginning of the futuristic vision, at the Buzludzha monument. I also thought of this experience as an attempt to make peace with the past and the pioneers in this field, from the desire to advance to the future. Through this collection, “Past Resilience” invites the world to embark on a transcendent voyage—a journey that transcends the boundaries of time and space. It is a reminder that by embracing the dreams, aspirations, and unyielding spirit of those who came before, we gain a deeper understanding of our own trajectory towards the future.

How do you want people to feel when they wear your clothes?

I want the people who wear my creations to feel themselves, in a position of power, with clothes that match their personality.
