JEWELRY: STUDIO RVL EXPLORING ETHICAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Passionate Journey of Rosemary, founder of STUDIO RVL: From Makeup Artist to Jewelry Designer

Transitioning from a successful career as a makeup artist and interior designer to becoming a jewelry designer is no small feat, yet Rosemary has done just that, bringing a unique perspective to her craft. In this enlightening interview, Rosemary shares insights into her journey, the challenges and rewards of her transformation, and her vision for the future of her brand.

When we asked Rosemary about what inspired her leap into jewelry design, she reflected on her experience in the world of interior design. “After years of collaborating with various parties and navigating the complexities of client wishes,” she explained, “I felt a strong desire to create from my own strength and intuition. I wanted to construct something entirely within my own aura, without the limitations imposed by others.” It was through this yearning for creative autonomy that she discovered the liberating world of jewelry design.

However, this new path came with its own set of challenges. Rosemary candidly acknowledged, “Marketing my jewelry was particularly difficult for me. In my previous work, I was selling concepts and energy, but now I’m selling a tangible product that requires a different approach to communication.” Despite these hurdles, she found rewarding moments when her designs gained recognition from prestigious fashion magazines and platforms, which validated her creative journey.

Fashion oftentimes marries aesthetics with practicality, especially in jewelry. Rosemary is no stranger to this balance. “My approach to practical design revolves around the choice of materials,” she noted. “I work with lightweight, comfortable materials that allow me to fully express my artistic vision.” She believes that functionality and high fashion can coexist beautifully.

An example she proudly shared was her larger earrings. “At first glance, they may appear heavy or reserved for special occasions, but the reality is that they’re featherlight,” she explained. “You can wear them all day long effortlessly. It’s about building confidence; just like wearing bold lipstick, once you embrace it daily, it becomes a part of your identity.”

Understanding the growing importance of sustainability in fashion, Rosemary is committed to eco-conscious practices in her jewelry-making process. “I aim to create my pieces consciously, often giving old jewelry a second life by incorporating them into my designs,” she explained. This approach not only promotes sustainable reuse but also imbues each piece with a new, unique story. Additionally, she emphasized her preference for small-scale production. “I intentionally choose not to produce in large quantities,” she stated. “Each piece is made by hand, ensuring full control over the quality and details, making my process more sustainable and personal.”

STUDIO RVL is about jewels with a personal story

Jewelry often carries emotional significance, and for Rosemary, her first collection holds a special place in her heart. “Those earrings symbolize my journey—the exploration of materials and techniques,” she shared. “Every compliment I received while wearing them reinforced the idea that something I had imagined could resonate with others. It was an inspiring moment, affirming my path as a designer.”

With her background in interior design, Rosemary seamlessly intertwines her understanding of space with her jewelry creations. “In design, I always strived for a cohesive feel; everything had to align in atmosphere and composition,” she noted. “This same idea of completeness and harmony is inherent in my jewelry, often exemplified by the way I incorporate round shapes into my designs. It provides balance and softness, making each piece resonate with a sense of calm.”

Looking ahead, Rosemary’s aspirations for her brand remain focused on authenticity and creativity.  “My goal is simple: to keep creating what I love without compromising my vision,” she expressed. She dreams of collaborations that align with her essence as a designer, while staying true to her style and pace. “The most rewarding aspect is when others find joy and inspiration in my work. That is what I strive for,” she reflected.

Finally, Rosemary offered insight into her creative philosophy, encapsulated in the phrase “the result of my passion.” “This means everything I create comes from deep emotions and a genuine love for the craft,” she explained. “I want those who wear my jewelry to feel beautiful in their own skin, to embrace their individuality boldly. Each piece should empower the wearer to express themselves without reservation.”

As Rosemary’s story unfolds, it’s evident that her passion for design transcends the boundaries of fashion. Through her journey from makeup artist and interior designer to revered jewelry creator, she invites us all to discover the beauty in our uniqueness and to wear our individuality with pride.
